WanderLuxe encourages all of its clients to insure their travel, whether the travel was booked by WanderLuxe or not. As seasoned travelers ourselves, we often declined our own coverage in the past. However, early hurricanes and other extreme weather, as well as labor and tech issues and the pandemic, have changed the travel landscape. We now insure our own travel against trip cancelations, delays and interruptions due to weather, medical necessity or otherwise. 

 

What type and how much insurance to buy is completely up to the purchaser. For ourselves, we tend to look for highly rated insurers with policies that cover weather delays of any amount of time (instead of those that kick in after 24 or 48 hour delays),  cover 150% of cost for interruptions (because last minute return flights will cost much more than you initially spent) and provide coverage for preexisting medical conditions for those who need it.
